The next step April 2026

Now that radiation is complete, the next step begins. On April 8th, Kasey will start an infusion called Kadcyla- which is for her her2 positive. She’ll receive these every three weeks for a total of 14 treatments. She will also continue getting her monthly ovarian suppression shots for the next five years, and she will remain in medically induced menopause during that time. Additionally every 6 months have a bone density (Zometa) infusion. Once her skin has fully healed from radiation (likely this fall), the reconstruction process can begin.
Many people have been asking when Kasey will finally be “done.” The honest truth is that this diagnosis changes life in a profound way. While the most intense part of treatment is winding down, Kasey will never truly be “done.” This journey will stay with her. For the next five years, she’ll continue medications—some of which are quite painful—and afterward, it will mean regular check-ups, scans, and careful monitoring for the rest of her life.
For anyone who has walked this road before, you know how heavy that reality feels. It doesn’t just go away.
Right now, Kasey is gently learning how to navigate this new chapter—managing the side effects of her medications, adjusting to life in menopause, and healing from everything her body has been through with chemo and radiation. Most importantly, she is slowly learning to love and appreciate herself again for the incredible strength and resilience her body has shown her.
