Kasey had her post-op appointment today with Dr. Swelsted. Her incision hasn’t fully healed yet, but it’s looking really good overall. He prescribed a special cream that she’s applying twice a day to improve circulation and support better wound healing.
The exciting news: he gave her the green light to start working out her core and legs again! No dumbbells yet, but she’s absolutely thrilled — working out is something she’s really missed during all the surgeries and recovery periods.
Looking ahead:
• On January 13, Dr. Swelsted will begin inflating the tissue expanders. They’ll start slowly and do this weekly at first. If her tissue responds well, they’ll increase to twice a week.
• Once the expanders are fully inflated, she’ll be cleared to start radiation therapy.
• Radiation will be 5 weeks long, with sessions 5 days per week.
• After radiation is complete, she’ll restart her +HER2 infusions (every 3 weeks for 14 rounds total).
Additionally, because some of her current medications can affect bone density, she has a bone density infusion scheduled for January 5.
Kasey is staying in good spirits — especially with the holiday break from work and now having the okay to exercise again. That said, the never-ending stream of appointments is starting to feel mentally and and is quickly using up her paid time off.
That’s the latest update for now. Thank you all so much for your continued care, love, and support for Kasey and her family — it truly means the world. We’ll keep everyone posted as things move forward. ❤️
