Kasey had a full day of doctor appointments yesterday. She’s one tough lady! She’s up and moving around with T-rex arms, showering on her own, and completely off pain meds.
We did hit a couple of minor setbacks, but nothing will dim Kasey’s spirit. One spot next to her incision isn’t getting great circulation, so the doctors prescribed a cream to improve blood flow to the tissue.
After reviewing all her procedures, the team found an area where the cancer was extremely close to the skin. To be safe, they recommend removing a bit more of that tissue to ensure every cancerous cell is gone. What they originally thought was a 2 cm tumor turned out to be 5 cm once surgically removed. Because of the larger size, radiation may be needed.
This weighs heavily on Kasey—she’s emotional and worried. She’ll follow every doctor’s order, but she’s concerned that radiation now could complicate things later. If cancer ever returns, say in her lungs, it might be hard to tell whether radiation played a role.
Still, Kasey stays optimistic, even when it feels like two steps forward, one step back. She’s so grateful for all the love, beautiful flowers, and delicious dinners. Thank you all for loving Kasey so much!
