Update 10/23

Kasey has been cherishing every second of this month, enjoying family time and making the best out of this off month. Yesterday, she had her pre-op appointment, navigating a flood of detailed instructions and strict “don’ts” with her determination, fully prepared to face the next phase of her journey head-on. Today she had  an echocardiogram to confirm that her heart remains strong and unaffected by the vigorous rounds of chemotherapy, a crucial step before her major surgery on November 6th at 8:30 AM.  Her results show her heart remains strong and unaffected. Another win! The surgery coming up is an intense operation that will require her to step back from her active life for over 6 weeks, limiting her to minimal activity.

Kasey’s resilience is nothing short of extraordinary. She faces this next big step with a ton of emotions but still remains to hold a smile on her face. Her strength is something others look up to, a powerful energy that helps her through even the hardest times. I believe this is one of Kasey best qualities about her! Post-surgery, she’ll need to adopt a T. rex-like existence for three weeks, with restricted movement and a time off from work, as her doctors have firmly directed her to avoid all household chores and lifting to ensure a smooth recovery. This enforced pause will be a tough adjustment for Kasey, whose unstoppable nature rarely bends to obstacles, she understands healing is crucial and is following her surgeons “don’t” list. For now, there’s little to add beyond the upcoming surgery, attached are some photos of Kasey soaking up this month’s joys, a testament to her ability to live fully while preparing for the next challenge ahead.

Ps. Kasey was nominated out of teachers for Homecoming loyalty and won! This is very deserving and was exactly what Kasey needed to keep her spirts high.
